Kenya Airways' CEO, Mbuvi Ngunze said the B787-8 Dreamliners are set to be delivered in May,June and July respectively and will be leased through AWAS instead of the usual financing from the Airline's own balance sheet.
In a statement released in Nairobi,he said,"given our current finances,we must be prudent in finding innovative financing solution while keeping with our growth ambition".
He also stated that the new aircraft will be an important addition to the current fleet of the airline since Kenya Airways strives to offer the best customer experience.
The very first of the three aircraft arrived in Nairobi on Saturday directly from the Boeing facility in Charleston,South Carolina. This happens to be the 7th of 9 Dreamliners ordered by Kenya Airways.
AWAS is a known and reputable business when it comes to Sale and Leaseback of aircraft with a portfolio of over 300 aircraft to it's credit.
The above was reflected in Kenya Airways' CEO's statement, that "AWAS has proven to be a valuably responsive and flexible business partner and we are thankful for their support. This means we meet our guest expectations with the youngest fleet in Africa as per our promise".
