Aviation Term Of The Day - Absolute Altitude

Absolute Altitude refers to the actual distance between an aircraft which is flying and the terrain over which it is flying that is,the earth. It is basically your actual height over the ground.Other types of altitudes in relation to an aircraft flying include true altitude, Indicated altitude,Pressure altitude and Density altitude.
The device used to measure absolute altitude is the "radar altimeter".The vertical distance between a flying aircraft and the earth's surface (absolute altitude) could vary dramatically if the aircraft is flown at a constant altitude over the ground.
