Aviation Word Of The Day - Empennage


The empennage of an aircraft is located at the rear.It is made up of flight control surfaces known as the fin,the horizontal stabiliser or tail plane, the elevator and the rudder.

Empennage is sometimes referred to as the tail assembly because it comprises all the controls which make up the aircraft tail.

These flight controls(enlisted above) control the motion,orientation and rotation of flight in three different angles namely ;pitch,roll and yaw.
