Just as a cook’s working area is the kitchen, a surgeon- the surgical wards, so does pilot have his working space. It is called the cockpit or flight deck-The area in which the pilot controls the aircraft in flight. Like that of a driver, the cockpit is located in front of the aircraft .It is the compartment where the pilot sits to control the aircraft while its airborne (in the air)

The cockpit is made up of a ton of flight controls and buttons which when applied, move the aircraft in a particular direction or cause a result. The plain sight of a cockpit can be really overwhelming for an amateur because of its complexity. Moreover, many people have seen a cockpit before, only in movies, books, and pictures. This is because the cockpit is considered to be one of the most delicate compartments in the aircraft, as any mistake or wrongly pressed button can pose a safety risk on the aircraft and its passengers.

It is a highly restricted area in the aircraft and only authorized personnel are permitted to enter. (Pilots)Even flight attendants need permission to enter in order to serve the pilots their meals in case they’re operating a long haul flight. To add, if you’ve noticed in any movies where the aircraft was being hijacked, the cockpit door is always closed and the pilots aren’t involved in whatever is happening in the cabin. Unless there's a bomb on board!
