Aviation Word Of The Day - Turnaround


Turnaround in aviation refers to all the activities carried out in preparing the aircraft for take-off,after it has landed.The aircraft is usually parked in the bay where all the activities are carried out.All The activities that constitute the turnaround process are time coordinated thus,they require proper planning and organizing.

All the above activities include,but are not limited to
  1. Unloading passenger baggage and unused consumables
  2. Disembarking passengers
  3. Carrying out maintenance checks
  4. Fueling the aircraft
  5. Cleaning the cabin
  6. Loading the baggage of outbound passengers, etc.
In aircraft turnaround,the key elements considered are Speed,Safety and Accuracy.
