Two Ryanair planes collide at Dublin Airport


Two passenger planes clipped each other on the ground at the airport this morning.

Two passenger jets have collided with each other at Dublin Airport, it has been reported.
 The Ryan Air planes apparently clipped wings while still on the tarmac.Photos taken by worried passengers on another plane show the aircraft next to each other with emergency crew, including two fire engines and an ambulance.
 It is unclear how much damage was done to the two planes in the incident.The apparent accident comes amidst heightened fears over flight safety following the Germanwings crash last Tuesday.
 The official Dublin Airport account tweeted in the last few moments: "A ground incident is causing delays to some departures this morning. Arrivals are operating normally. Please check with your airline."It appears that two aircraft clipped each other on a taxiway."

Ryanair has released a statement about the incident this morning, the Irish Mirror reports.It said: "Two of our aircraft were taxiing slowly to the runway at Dublin Airport this morning. The winglet of one aircraft appears to have scraped the tail fin of the other."Both aircraft were under the instruction of Dublin Airport Air Traffic Control at the time."Customers have been bussed back to the terminal and will board replacement aircraft to continue their journeys to Edinburgh and Zadar.
"Ryanair apologises sincerely to customers for any inconvenience caused.

Not an April Fool

The incident happened on the Tarmac this morning.
 The two planes that clipped each other's wings were headed to Edinburgh and Zadar, a city in Croatia.No-one was injured during the incident this morning, it has been reported.

It is not known when the planes will resume their planned journeys.
 Delays to other Dublin Airport flights
The two flights that clipped on the taxiway at Dublin Airport this morning were the Ryanair services to Edinburgh - FR812 and Zadar - FR7312.
 There have been delays to a number of services as a result, the Irish Mirror reports.
However , the delays appear to be relatively minor - approximately 10 minutes each.

Similar incident last October
 Two Ryanair planes were involved in a similar incident last October, the Irish Mirror reports.
Emergency services responded to the scene after the two planes clipped each other while one was taxiing to a stand in the early morning light. No passengers were harmed in the incident, which happened at low speeds on the ground at the airport.
