It’s been a rough week in aviation. On Memorial day, May 25,six airliners received bomb threats, one,Air France was actually escorted into New York’s JFK by US jets. Today news sources such as CNNare reporting about an incident that happened last Saturday. Seems like Singapore Airlines flight SQ836, an Airbus A330-300 with more than 180 passengers on board, lost power in two engines and plunged 13,000 feet. The temporarily lost power happened during a storm,.
The flight was headed from Singapore to Shanghai from Singapore on Saturday when it "encountered bad weather at 39,000 feet while cruising at an altitude of 39,000 feet, about three and a half hours after departure," a spokesperson for the airline told CNN Wednesday. The source also said that both engines were thoroughly inspected and tested upon arrival in Shanghai with no anomalies detected.
According to Daily Mail, passengers were pretty freaked out as the jet dropped 13,000 feet. The carrier has launched an investigation to determine the cause. During the the incident pilots followed ‘operational procedures’ and managed to restore power to both Rolls-Royce Trent 772 engines, Singapore Airlines said in a statement. The flight continued to its destination landing safely in Shanghai.
The Daily Mail story said that Singapore Airlines said no ‘anomalies’ were detected in either of the engines when they were 'thoroughly inspected and tested' upon arrival in Shanghai, and that it is investigating the incident with Rolls-Royce and Airbus.
